There are many ways to get involved. You can sign up for a day or a week or as long as you are available at whatever level you are comfortable with. Or you can just send a monthly or one-time donation. You can be active for a week or two and then take a break and come back later as time allows. We welcome all levels of commitment.
The walk begins May 7, 2024, in Maine.
The plan is to have at least a small contingent walking every day. Some people may walk only a short distance or part of a day, others may walk the whole day’s stretch for a week or more. You can do as little or as much as you are able. At certain points, we may have a larger group for a particularly visible portion of the route or on important dates, such as Memorial Day.
Someone is needed to drive a van that will accompany the walkers. They will need to be available to pick up walkers from the route as needed during the day, to take walkers from the daily endpoint to their lodgings for the night, to bring walkers back to their starting point in the morning, and to scope out the upcoming day’s route.
Some walkers will be camping, but others may need a bed or couch to sleep on. You can open your home or organize homestays in your area.
We will be holding events along the way to publicize our mission and create dialogue with people living along the route about how wars negatively affect their lives and how resources could be redirected to meet their needs.
Help us keep a record of the walk with photographs, video, and written accounts!
